The Brief

NOVA ViA needed a way to generate private patient email accounts without exposing real patient data to a generic third-party tool: create, reset, and close accounts, with an activity log and admin user management.

The Approach

1. 01Treated this as a product build, not a brochure site: account creation, password resets, and session handling needed to be right, not just the visual layer.
2. 02Designed a simple step-based flow (patient's first name in, account details out) so front-desk staff don't need technical training to use it.
3. 03Ran account and activity data through a serverless Postgres database instead of a static store, so every action stays queryable and auditable.

What We Built

• Next.js and TypeScript application with NextAuth-based authentication for the admin side.
• Neon serverless Postgres as the database, storing account records and activity-log entries without a persistent server to manage.
• Create account, reset password, and close account flows for patient email provisioning.
• Activity log and user management panel for admin oversight of every account action.
• Full technical journey: Next.js frontend, NextAuth session layer, Neon serverless Postgres database.

The Result

A working internal tool that lets non-technical staff provision and manage private patient email accounts safely.
